Frequently Asked Questions
Why did my PNG not get smaller?
PNG is lossless, so the quality slider does not apply to it the way it does to JPEG. Converting a photo-like PNG to JPEG or WebP usually saves far more.
Can compression make a file larger?
Yes, for already-optimized images. When that happens the result is clearly labelled as larger rather than being presented as a saving.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Compression runs on a canvas inside your browser and nothing is transmitted.
