Remove PDF Metadata
Clear the author, title, subject, keywords, creator and producer from a PDF, then download the cleaned file. Verified by re-reading the output.
How it works
- Add a PDF to see what metadata it carries.
- Remove it — the cleaned PDF downloads immediately.
- The confirmation is read back from the file you downloaded, not assumed.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know the metadata is really gone?
The tool re-opens the file it just produced and reads the metadata back out of those bytes, then shows you the result. The confirmation you see describes the downloaded file, not what the tool intended to do.
Is the PDF fully anonymous afterwards?
No, and the tool says so. Standard document metadata is cleared, but a PDF can also carry an XMP metadata stream, EXIF data inside embedded images, annotation authors and embedded font names. Those are left untouched, and any that are detected are listed for you.
Does the document content change?
No. Pages, text, images and page count are untouched — only the document information fields are cleared.
Can I remove just one field?
Yes. Use the PDF Metadata editor to clear individual fields; this tool is the one-click option for clearing all of them at once.
