How it works
- Type the exact number of letters you want — 5 lists every five-letter word. Words are indexed by length, so the answer is a direct lookup, not a scan.
- Optionally narrow the list with starts with, ends with or contains — for example every five-letter word ending in "tion".
- Results update as you pause typing and are listed alphabetically, with the total count for that length shown up top.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is this different from the word finder?
It is the same index with length as the starting point rather than one filter among many. If you know only the length, this is the direct route; the word finder is better when you have several constraints.
Can I narrow it further?
Yes — starting letters, ending letters and a required substring all combine with the length.
Why are results capped?
There are tens of thousands of five-letter words. Up to 500 are listed with the true total shown, because rendering every one would freeze the page and would not help you find anything.
Is the list good for word games?
It is a general English dictionary, not an official tournament word list. Some entries will not be valid in Scrabble or Wordle, and some valid game words may be missing.
