Word Unscrambler

Enter your letters and find every word that can be spelled from them, longest first, with duplicate letters handled correctly.

Up to 20 letters. Spaces and punctuation are ignored.

Only words at least this long are shown. 2 keeps common short words; raise it to focus on longer answers.

Find only words of exactly this many letters, instead of everything at or above the minimum.

About the word list: This tool searches a general English list of roughly 270,000 entries, which includes inflected forms and some proper nouns. A word being absent from this list does not mean it is not a real word — no list is complete, and Scrabble and Wordle use their own official lists, which differ from this one.

How it works

  1. Type the letters you have. Duplicate letters are handled by counting, so “aab” can spell “baa” but not “abba”.
  2. The tool finds every word in the dictionary that can be spelled from some or all of your letters.
  3. Results update as you type and are grouped by length, longest first, so the highest-scoring options are at the top.
Privacy & Processing: Everything runs in your browser. The word list is fetched once from this site and the search never leaves your machine — nothing you enter is uploaded, stored, or sent to analytics.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it use all my letters?

It finds every word spellable from SOME or all of them, which is what a word game needs. Results are ordered longest first, then alphabetically, so the highest-scoring options are at the top. Use the anagram solver if you want only words that use every letter exactly once.

How are repeated letters handled?

By counting, not by presence. From the letters "aab" you can spell "baa" but not "abba", because only one B is available. Tools that treat the letters as a set get this wrong and suggest words you cannot actually make.

Is the result order stable?

Yes. The same letters always produce the same list in the same order — longest first, alphabetical within each length. Nothing is randomised.

Where does the word list come from?

A 270,000-word English list served as a static file from this site and searched in your browser. No third-party dictionary service is contacted and your letters are never sent anywhere.
